I did Lu and Ru’s photoshoot inside their cozy house in Lisboa. We sat for an hour talking about having cats and destroyed furniture by little claws, about Ru’s passion for photography and all of our incredible tattoos, about what it’s like to be young and in love and living together. I watched two loving people creating a home (and dancing in the rain like crazy but that’s another story).

Anyway, all of this to say that I believe that couples photography should mean something. They shared tea like they do most mornings, and petted their cats and got to connect and now have it immortalized. To me, that’s what it’s all about.

These photos taste of chicken tomato soup, smell like dirt and sand, and feel like warm sun on the face with the windows are down.

A roadtrip of over 2000kms that made me reminisce of many Muslim traditions and appreciate it even more. A country so full of life and empathy with their Palestinian brothers and yet so harsh with itself.

Will miss the amazing food and running after camels, that’s for sure.

Fico, tantas vezes, emocionada ao ver as fotografias de um casamento… eu lembro-me dos votos e dos brindes, da sensação de estar tão perto dos noivos que sentia o nervosismo deles, dos pés que já me doíam ao fim do dia mas não tanto quanto doíam as bochechas de não parar de sorrir.

Mas ao editar o casamento da Sofia e do Sebastião, lembro-me apenas da calma, do cheiro a dia de verão no campo, do sol gentil, do amor nos olhares que foram trocados todo o dia. Pensei muito na “casa no campo” da Elis Regina.

Que privilégio fazer parte deste dia.

2024 was crazy— I worked (a LOT), rested (too little), lost and found myself multiple times and truly went through the motions of working as a free lancer.

finishing the wedding season with this perfect fall day was meant to happen. It’s like everything I faced this year led me there and allowed me to reconnect with photography and with a part of myself I thought I would never face again.

Right now, I couldn’t feel more excited for 2025 and all the fun and kind couples I’ll be making memories with.

for the longest time I’ve felt insecure photographing christenings,, i felt like it wasn’t raw and intimate like weddings and that I had a harder time connecting with the family and in consequence, finding art

that changed when I understood that I don’t honestly care about the perfectly focused photo as long as I have one of the godfather protecting the candle so little Manuel doesn’t blow it away, or his baby fingers covered in cake because let’s be honest- it’s his day and he’ll do whatever he wants
